About Sue
Experienced, independent and personal.
I offer speech and language therapy for children and families, with a calm, practical approach shaped by many years of professional experience.
I qualified with a BSc in Speech Therapy from City University, London, and undertook postgraduate study at the University of Toronto.
I practised for many years in London and Toronto, including work at the internationally recognised Hanen Centre, whose approach places strong emphasis on helping parents support children’s communication in everyday life.
My professional background includes work with the NHS, Local Education Authorities, state and private schools, and many private clients. I also spent many years as the speech and language therapist for a specialist dyslexic school.
Whole child approach
Communication is more than speech.
Children may come to speech and language therapy because their speech is unclear, their language is delayed, they struggle to follow instructions, or communication is affecting learning, behaviour, friendships or confidence.
Communication is about much more than speech. It draws on listening, attention, processing, memory, language, social understanding, physical coordination and the child’s everyday environment.
My role is to look carefully at the whole child, explain what I see clearly to parents, and offer advice that is practical, proportionate and useful at home and at school.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, the UK regulator for speech and language therapists, and am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
I also have considerable experience with children with dyslexia, children on the autistic spectrum, and children whose communication difficulties affect learning, participation or self-confidence.
I choose to work independently and with a limited number of clients. Parents deal directly with me from first conversation through assessment, advice and therapy.
